Pachelbel's Canon on Steroids

The Boss and the Nightwatchman

Here's a duet to add to the time capsule: Bruce Springsteen and Tom Morello (The Nightwatchman, Audioslave, Rage Against the Machine) rocking out on Bruce's "The Ghost of Tom Joad." The video has migrated to YouTube in shoddy Flash quality, but the full, high-quality QuickTime movie file is online at Springsteen.net, right here.

Tom's epic guitar solo in the second half is well worth the download time. He pulls out all the tricks in his arsenal... and that "Arm the Homeless" guitar is an icon for the ages.

Worst. President. Ever.

A playlist for the prezidunt of amurica, with love:

The Kinks: "A Well Respected Man"
-
"He's a well-respected man about town, doing the best things so conservatively...."

Village People: "Macho Man" -
Revel in the chorus and imagine Mr. Deluded Decider singing it about himself.

Faster Pussycat: "You're So Vain" -
An obscure L.A. hair band covers Carly's tribute (in title, if not verse) to asshole macho-man vigilantes like Mr. SmokemOut.

Denis Leary: "Asshole" -
"He's the world's biggest asshole...."

Nazareth: "Vigilante Man" -
Woody Guthrie updated by a screaming Scotsman. "Tell me, why does that vigilante man carry that sawed-off shotgun in his hand?"

Green Day: "American Idiot" -
Need they say more?

Queen: "Death on Two Legs" -
"Killjoy, bad guy, big-talking small fry...."

Barenaked Ladies: "Fun & Games" -
War and carnage as a happy circus tune... much as Mr. Nookleer Monkey sees it.

Tool: "Swamp Song" -
"The bog is deep and easy to get lost in, 'cause you're a stupid belligerent fucker...."

Nickelback: "Side of a Bullet" -
"And in the wake of his mistake so many lives are broken...."

Metallica: "King Nothing" -
"Then it all crashes down, and you lose your crown, and you point your finger, but there's no one around...."

The Dreaming: "Dead to Me" -
"You're nothing, you're no one, you're dead to me...." A party anthem for when the Long National Nightmare is finally over!
